Lucy Parsons Artist

My paintings are mostly inspired by the landscapes of East Lothian, with which I have been associated over the last 40 years.

I began my creative life with sculpture, (learning from Chris Hall, and part time modelling from the figure at Edinburgh College of Art), then, on moving to the foothills of the Lammermuirs, I found a new freedom of expression in painting, with the wonderful patterns and colours of the land and sea.

The hare sculptures came about from encounters while out sketching.

I feel very privileged to be able to wander in, and observe the natural world. This is vital to me, and I hope that I can capture some of what I love, to share with others.

I have not settled on a particular medium as I enjoy approaching subject differently.

In 2002 and 2003 Painting course at the Leith School of Art with Paul Martin.

1980-83 Edinburgh College of Art, Part-time modelling from the figure with Vincent Butler and Michael Snowden
